Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) November 12, 2012
Last week, the Hildebrandt Institutes Peer Monitor Economic Index showed continued growth in Labor and Employment over two consecutive quarters of 2012 with a growth of 2.5% in the last quarter, a trend independently corroborated by BCG Attorney Search data.
The Peer Monitor Economic Index (PMI), which measures the health of the legal industry, showed demand for labor and employment legal services rising in the 3rd quarter even as stalwart practice areas like intellectual property suffered a decline of 3.6%. The growth of services in employment and labor law is supported by the continuing demand for employment attorneys made by clients of BCG Attorney Search over the last quarter.
BCG Attorney Search, a premium legal recruitment firm for attorneys, networks with law firms and finds the best talent and attorneys for law firm jobs. As of the 2nd week of November, 178 of the 3,275 listings for attorneys shown by BCG Attorney Search, were postings for employment attorneys.
Data shows not merely growth in the employment law sector, but hiring opportunities even at the senior levels. This is demonstrated by the fact that out of 178 employment attorney positions listed through BCG Attorney Search, nearly one-third are partner-level jobs. A large number of openings, even at the partner level, are for both individual attorneys, as well as groups in labor and employment law.
Currently, Chicago legal recruiters at BCG Attorney Search are looking to fill 11 vacancies for employment attorneys with five being at partner level. BCGs New York City legal recruiter reported 12 New York City attorney placements open for employment attorneys, with three partner-level opportunities. The demand seems to be highest in the Chicago area for employment and labor law practice.
According to Harrison Barnes, CEO of BCG Attorney Search, the continued demand for employment law attorneys at the partner level has been astounding, especially when compared to traditionally strong practice areas like IP litigation, where there are 195 openings by clients of BCG, but only 20 of which are partner-level positions. According to BCG Search data, employment law shows close to 32% partner positions available, while IP litigation practice shows availability of only 10% partner positions against total demand in the respective sectors. These data trends reflecting growth in employment and labor practice areas and decline in IP law correspond with PMI findings.
