Online Auction Site eBid.net Sales Up 22% in October and 38% for All of 2012

Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 09, 2012

Global online marketplace eBid (http://www.ebid.net) has reported a 22% increase in items sold for October 2012 over September 2012 and that it has experienced a total of 38% sales growth for the 12 month period ending October 2012. eBid attributes some of that growth to the change in October when Google Shopping converted from a free service to a paid model in the U.S. This sent shockwaves through the ecommerce industry, impacting many online marketplaces with a significant loss of traffic but eBid – which spans over 100 countries and five continents – made the decision to retain the traffic and pay the Google Shopping cost per click for click to their members’ products being sold on the eBid marketplace . eBid hosts over 5.4 million live auction listings representing a gross marketplace value of nearly $ 3.5 billion.

Mark Wilkinson, co-founder of eBid said, “It’s true that we’ve been enjoying steady growth throughout 2012. This is due in large part to increased marketing efforts and our expansion into Malaysia and Brazil earlier this year. A good portion of October’s growth is indicative of the Google Shopping switchover which has made a dent in most other online retailers’ sales, especially those with the majority of their sellers based in the U.S. As an international marketplace we can afford to keep paying for Google Shopping and ensure that our U.S.-based sellers will continue to get robust traffic to their auction listings.”

eBid also recently instituted a new policy of removing old listings if there has been no activity on the seller’s account for 60-days (previously the policy was to remove listings after 150 days). This has led to increased visibility for auction items, as stale and “dead” listings no longer affect search results. This is a common problem in the ecommerce industry as many multi-channel bulk sellers don’t update their inventory when it sells out on another site. Wilkinson commented, “This policy change was a significant way to ensure that eBid remains a vibrant marketplace. With the majority of ecommerce sales coming from bulk, set-price retailers, we have found that it is vital to weed out any old listings to keep the marketplace fresh and competitive.”

Founded in 1999 in the UK, eBid now spans a total of 23 territories, covering more than 100 countries and five continents. Independent metrics have placed eBid firmly in second-place competition with eBay for person-to-person online listings in the USA, UK and dozens of other countries. Competitive features like zero insertion fees, low final cost fees (ranging from 0% to a max of 3%), a “Make An Offer” button and “Multiple Item Checkout” as well as a generous affiliate program and wide territorial coverage have all combined to propel eBid into this top bracket. Transactions on eBid may be completed using multiple, secure payment systems, either PPPay.com, Google Wallet, PayPal, or Skrill (Moneybookers).

With eBid’s affiliate program, participants who add banners/links to their website, emails or Facebook pages can earn up to $ 104.99 for a single referral. Affiliates are rewarded for not only sign-ups to the basic eBid “Buyer” account status but also when the referral makes a free upgrade to “Seller” status and, most impressive of all, affiliates are rewarded with 50% of any upgrade fees when their referrals upgraded to “Seller+” status. eBid’s “Seller+” status is a great advantage for higher volume merchants. A one-time fee of $ 49.49 gives the seller a lifetime of zero listing fees and zero final value fees. Merchants may also opt for a short-term subscription upgrade to zero fees ($ 1.99 for 7 Days / $ 6.99 for 30 Days / $ 16.99 for 90 Days). http://us.ebid.net/help_affiliate.php
