$2,000 Makeover Helps Scariest Website Contest Winner Murder the Competition

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 3, 2005

Do you know a monstrously bad website? One whose design and content terrifies even the bravest of visitors? Now you can help. Nominate it for the 2005 Scariest Website Contest and it could win a free $ 2,000 website makeover from FastWebUpdates.com.

“The 2005 Scariest Website Contest is a fun way to help some lucky organization do a better job on the web,” said Reid Carlberg, FastWebUpdates.com’s founder. “So many websites underperform—it’s truly frightening. And improving them is often easier than people think.”

The contest runs October 3-28 and the winner will be announced on Halloween (10/31). A nomination form and rules are at the contest website—ScariestWebsite.com (http://ScariestWebsite.com). The only major restrictions are that the website must be run by an organization with its own domain name—small business or non-profit—and must be owned and operated from the US.

“We want every out of date site to be entered in the contest,” Carlberg says. “Sites with out of date content, the abhorrent blink tag, broken JavaScript, horrible images—we want it all. We’ll pick the worst of the worst, the site that will benefit the most, and it will be crowned winner of the 2005 Scariest Website contest.”

The website redesign will focus on several areas. First is content and presentation—what the website says. “On the Internet,” Carlberg says, “content is still king and it has to be presented in a logical fashion.” Next is construction. “Website construction determines the ongoing cost of operating a site, so you have to do it right.” On page search engine optimization will be included each step of the way.

The $ 2,000 makeover grand prize will go to one winner. One runner up will be awarded a three hour website maintenance package worth $ 99. Both winners will be included in all contest publicity and select nominees will be added to the contest gallery.
