NS Basic/App Studio 2.0 Adds jQuery Mobile Support

NS BASIC Corporation has announced the release of NS Basic/App Studio 2.0. The release features full support for jQuery Mobile, with an IDE that allows developers to drag and drop controls on the design screen.

App Studio lets them layout their elements in a fraction of the time, generating the necessary code and HTML automatically.”

Right clicking on an element on the Design Screen brings up a list of events, and takes the developer to a code window to write the event handling code.

Other new features in the release include improved Ajax support, the ability to turn mobile apps into desktop apps and easier to use New Project and Open Sample dialogs.

NS Basic/App Studio is a complete, easy to use development environment for mobile devices. BASIC and JavaScript are supported as development languages. With a familiar look and feel, NS Basic/App Studio provides a full, modern implementation of BASIC, with proper subroutines, user defined data types and event driven execution. The development environment runs on a Windows desktop.

Once you have tested your app in the browser, with a single click you can either deploy it to a device as a web app or compile it into a native app using PhoneGap Build.

NS Basic/App Studio includes over 150 statements and functions. Support is provided for SQLite, geolocation, graphics and more. A full set of standard screen input and output objects and dialog boxes are included. A 155 page handbook, tutorials and lots of sample code are included.

The execution framework is based on JavaScript, HTML5 and WebKit. While knowledge of these technologies is not required, they give NS Basic/App Studio considerable power under the hood. They also give NS Basic/App Studio apps portability to platforms supporting these technologies.

Reducing water wastage through leaks is one of STWs key imperatives and this app will allow customers who spot leaks to report them in a timely way increasing STWs response times and reducing water loss.

The mobile web app uses JavaScript to identify the device and delivers responsive content matched to the display. This works well across most modern web enabled devices and does not require any plug-ins or downloads (older Blackberry devices need to have JavaScript enabled).

STWs multi-channel approach will continue unabated and their aim is to deliver more content and customer-centric applications in the future.

Preventing Silos in the Cloud

If the notion of the Canonical Model is left behind when implementing in the cloud, it may diminish the value of IT by recreating the old spaghetti diagrams that so many organizations had.

In October 2011, OAGi announced that their Architecture Council is leading a Cloud Computing Initiative and support for JSON and now that initiative is being combed into the concept of Mobile Business, the power of Cloud Computing, and JSON technology as a single initiative.

The Architecture Council is looking at additions or revisions to the OAGIS Specification to ensure that the vision of Mobile Business harnessing Cloud Computing Brokerage Services will enable enterprises to out-innovate their competition, make employees more efficient, improve customer service and control costs.

“Devices coupled with pervasive networks are driving the need for exposing cloud-based data services to enable ‘anywhere’, ‘any time’ computing in the ecosystem,” added Abhijeet Ranadive, Enterprise B2B Architect, Cisco Systems (CSCO). “APIs that enable this integration paradigm will need to have a standardized light payload format and JSON fits the requirement. Defining OAGi standard in a JSON format is a way to bring together two best in class solutions to meet the information needs.”

Newark, New Jerseys Liberty International Airport and Washington Dulles offered the least amount of savings on holiday airfares during the study.
