As Mobile is catapulted into the spotlight, research from the specialist website CWJobs.co.uk finds that one in five IT pros (19%) are planning to re-skill entirely to become mobile computing specialists. With 81% of IT pros planning to skill up on mobile, 84% thinking that mobile is set to grow and increase the number of telecoms jobs, this could finally be the year of mobile.
A recent survey conducted by Antenna Software and Vanson Bourne in February 2012 has revealed that UK businesses will double their Mobile project spend over the next 18 months – this has opened up significant opportunities for those working in the IT sector and 81% now plan to skill up on elements of mobile to add to their existing skills set as well as opening increasing numbers of project management jobs.
78% of IT specialists think mobile computing is a good option for graduates entering the industry and advise that those seeking to secure a future in mobile computing should ensure they are proficient in the following skills: JavaScripts, C#, .NET and HTML 5.
