"GoGUI Launches New No Cost Portable Internet Desktop"

Windsor, Ontario (PRWEB) June 7, 2005

GoGUI and computer programming enthusiast Joseph A. Latouf announce the launch of the Portable Desktop, a fully-functional desktop modeled after the static desktops included with operating systems such as Microsoft Windows. The GoGUI Portable Desktop offers users the freedom to benefit from this same user friendly environment while online from any computer connected to the Internet. GoGUI is offering the Portable Desktop for free at http://www.GoGUI.com.

“Users may need to remember that they are in a browser while using their Portable Desktop,” Programmer and GoGUI President Joseph A. Latouf explained. “The folders and files on the Portable Desktop visually and functionally resemble a static desktop, which until now, has been confined to a single computer. Users may also interactively personalize their Portable Desktop by selecting font sizes and background wallpapers the same way they would with a static desktop.”

The Portable Desktop is more efficient than the “Text User Interfaces” currently available on the Internet and includes these key features:

*Drag and Drop Functionality

*Internally Managed Windows

*Keyboard Shortcuts and Navigation

*Context Menus

*A PI Explorer for Managing Online Files and Folders

The Portable Desktop is a network-friendly environment which does not force users to download or install components. The Portable Desktop requires a DOM Level 2 browser with JavaScript enabled (such as Internet Explorer 6+ or Mozilla 1.6+). Those users who wish to make GoGUI their homepage will find the “auto load” feature useful. This feature offers users the option to automatically open a secondary homepage when they sign in to their Portable Desktop.

GoGUI’s Portable Desktop is built with Portable Interface (PI) technology which significantly reduces bandwidth and server side resources while providing users with spontaneous and interactive actions, such as dragging a file to a new folder. Once the solution loads, the Portable Desktop only needs to transfer small pieces of data between the client and the server.

About GoGUI and Joseph A. Latouf

Joseph A. Latouf has been programming computers since the early days of DOS. History taught Mr. Latouf that a well-constructed Graphical User Interface provides better usability than the confines of a linear model such as a Text User Interface. This concept, coupled with the usability studies and publications by Dr. Jakob Neilson (http://www.useit.com), compelled Mr. Latouf to develop a familiar, interactive and efficient portable platform for working and surfing on the Internet.
