Timmons Group Selected by the United States Forest Service to Develop Nationwide Geospatial Activity and Accomplishment Tools Enterprise Solution

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) June 07, 2011

Timmons Group, a leader in geospatial consulting and application development, was recently selected by the United States Forest Service to develop the nation-wide Geospatial Activity and Accomplishment Tools (GAAT) enterprise solution for management planning and reporting.

Approximately forty-five percent of all forestland in the United States, or 354 million acres, is under nonindustrial private ownership. These lands contribute significantly to America’s clean water and air, wildlife habitat, recreational resources and timber supplies. Authorized by the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978, the Forest Stewardship Program (FSP) provides technical assistance, through State forestry agency partners, to Nonindustrial Private Forest (NIPF) owners to encourage and enable active long-term forest management. A primary focus of the Program is the development of comprehensive, multi-resource management plans that provide landowners with the information they need to manage their forests for a variety of products and services. The U.S. Forest Service State and Private Forestry (S&PF) organization selected Timmons Group, through a competitive review process, for the development of the next release of the Forest Stewardship Plan, a writing and reporting tool. These tools are fundamental to a Redesigned S&PF that is able to relate on-the-ground accomplishments to priorities identified in the State assessments and strategies and consistently report on the core set of S&PF performance measures.

Timmons Group has worked with many state land management agencies over the past 10 years developing spatial accomplishment tracking and land management solutions. Developed solutions include Web-based geospatial/GIS planning and accomplishment tools, water quality monitoring and wildfire tracking tools, and reporting tools for Web and mobile platforms.

We are extremely excited to work with the USFS, S&PF team for the development of their GAAT, said Lowell Ballard, Director of Geospatial Solutions for Timmons Group. Both the USFS and S&PF have an important mission to better understand where work is planned and accomplished across the country and to be able to report that in a timely manner. With the recent adoption of the State Forest Assessments in each state, a refined sense of priority for conservation delivery exists. Being able to track planned and completed activities against those defined priorities, both state-by-state and nationally, is imperative to the mission of the USFS. We have built many strong friendships with USFS state partners and are eager to provide the same capabilities to S&PF.

appendTo Releases AmplifyJS 1.0, a JavaScript Component Library

(PRWEB) June 15, 2011

appendTo, LLC, a jQuery company dedicated to IT experts and business professionals, announced today that it has released version 1.0 of its set of JavaScript components designed to solve common front-end web application problem with a simplistic API. The library called AmplifyJS, http://amplifyjs.com was developed to “amplify” your current JavaScript skills and provide some missing components that are important for developing scalable web applications.

AmplifyJS aims to simplify all forms of data handling by providing a unified API for various data sources. amplify.store component handles persistent client-side storage, using HTML5 standards like localStorage and sessionStorage, but falling back on non-standard implementations for older browsers. amplify.request adds some additional features to jQuery’s ajax method while abstracting away the underlying data source. AmplifyJS also provides methods in its API for the Publish/Subscribe messaging pattern that has seen a rise in popularity with front-end developers.

AmplifyJS solves the following problems:

Ajax Request Management – amplify.request provides a clean and elegant request abstraction for all types of data, even allowing for transformation prior to consumption.
Client Side Component Communication – amplify.publish/subscribe provides a clean, performant API for component to component communication.
Client Side Browser & Mobile Device Storage – amplify.store takes the confusion out of HTML5 localStorage. It doesn’t get simpler than using amplify.store(key, data)! It even works flawlessly on mobile devices.

AmplifyJS is an open source project released under the MIT and GPLv2 licenses. To download or for more information regarding AmplifyJS, visit http://amplifyjs.com.

BlueMelon Photo Sharing is Becoming a Strong Platform for Photography Selling

Miami, FL (PRWEB) June 19, 2011

BlueMelon (http://www.bluemelon.com), has considerably extended the functionality of their account covering the needs of professional photographers and artists who want to sell their work online. By extending the basic functionality, such as convenient price list management and watermarking, they succeeded in creating a comprehensive solution with advanced presentation and selling features. The major enhancements include customer registration, customers photo uploading, two-way shopping cart sharing, discount coupons, and product packages.

In reply to the question How would you describe the recent development of BlueMelon?, Miroslav Liska, the BlueMelon CEO replied: We at BlueMelon consider the recent development a success since we managed to extend our services to create a solid platform for photography selling while retaining our main focus – usability.

Presentation features have been enhanced as well. Most notable among the enhancements are the global design changes, and the simplified theme and menu editors which obviate the need for the knowledge of HTML and CSS when customizing the look of an account. The overall design has undergone vast improvements and is now more accessible, usable, and professional in character while offering even more possibilities than before.

As far as discounts go, the photographers can choose from two ways of promoting their products : discount coupons and product packages. Discount coupons are implemented in the usual way of codes with an expiration date, which provide the customer with a discount of a fixed value or of a percentage of the total price. On the other hand, product packages are a convenient way of grouping common product choices together for an easier checkout and more satisfied customers. The packages can also be used to offer free of charge gifts to certain products or simply advantageous pricing for customers buying more products at once.

Professional photographers will surely welcome the concept of visitor registrations. They can set up a simple form to serve as a required or an optional registration form. After a visitor has registered with a photographer, the photographer can view the visitors details and answers to the questions in the registration form if any. The photographer can also see which photos the visitor liked and disliked.

An important feature that is missing in other similar photography selling services is enabling the sellers customers to upload their own photos to the sellers account. This feature can be set up so as to create an album for each customer or create one into which more customers can upload. A highly requested feature that has been added recently is the possibility for the sellers to prefill shopping carts for their customers and the possibility for the customers to share their shopping carts with the sellers who can subsequently help them with the checkout process.

Direct credit card processing support implemented in addition to the standard PayPal payment method, the possibility of embedding the whole gallery in ones website, and many other improvements make BlueMelon the preferred choice among online photography selling solutions. The free 14-day trial is certainly worth a try for any who seek to present and sell their work online either digitally or in the form of prints and other products.

JSON Supported as an Interface Option for Ivory Service Architect

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 20, 2011

GT Software, a global provider of mainframe integration and data access solutions, today announced that its flagship product, Ivory Service Architect, now supports JSON as an option for web service processing.

This latest enhancement makes Ivory Service Architect easier for developers to use, and opens the door for JavaScript web designers to access the IBM mainframe enabling more people than ever before to leverage mainframe applications and data, said Wes Young, Senior Vice President of Sales for GT Software.

This reinforces Ivory Service Architects position as the most cost-effective, flexible mainframe integration tool on the market today.

JSON, or Java Script Object Notation, is a lightweight text-based interchange format thats easy for developers and designers to understand. Its text format is completely language-independent but uses conventions that are familiar to JavaScript web designers. These properties make JSON an ideal data-interchange language.

JSON support expands the support of Ivory Service Architect beyond SOAP and XML servers and provides the ability to create web-based interfaces directly accessing IBM mainframe applications, Young said. Ivory Service Architect is unique in offering JSON support to access applications and data on both z/OS and z/VSE platforms.

Ivory Service Architect offers a deploy once, support many processes approach that enables mainframe-based SOAP, RESTful, and JSON services from a single service definition. It also supports the deployment of web services across z/OS, z/VSE, CICS, IMS, Windows, Linux and Linux on z. Key features include the ability to shift integration and SOA-related workload off the mainframe to reduce MIPS, as well as leveraging new mainframe MIPS-reducing hardware such as IFL processors with Linux on z, and the exploitation of the zIIP and zAAP.

About Ivory Service Architect

Market-leading Ivory Service Architect enables organizations to extend access to mainframe applications, data, and processes using web services with no code written, generated or changed and no additional MIPS usage. Multimedios Selects InetSoft's Dashboard Software

Piscataway, NJ (PRWEB) June 28, 2011

InetSoft Technology, an innovator in data mashup driven dashboard and reporting solutions, announced that Grupo Multimedios, one of the largest media and entertainment companies in Mexico, has selected InetSofts Style Scope in order to create sophisticated enterprise data visualizations that summarize sales and operations data for top executives.

For several years, Multimedios had struggled to create executive performance management dashboards using spreadsheets, pivot tables, and other BI tools. Although the dashboards they created reflected the KPI’s that needed to be shown, they were visually cluttered with lots of numbers, making it difficult for the end-users to effectively understand and manipulate the data. Finally, this past year, the company began looking into new BI tools that would be both easier to use and visually appealing, and it chose InetSoft.

One of the advantages of this tool is that we started using it from the very beginning without major changes in the extracted data. Using Style Scope from InetSoft gave us the ability to provide a graphical representation of the key data to top management right out-of-the-box and move from static tables of numbers to charts and graphics that are much easier to understand said Sergio Riojas, Chief Technology Officer at Grupo Multimedios.

Before the use of Style Scope, it took us months to build KPI dashboards that were simple enough to manage by end-users; now in a couple of days we can customize several graphic views, and even the users can build their own reports without IT intervention. With InetSoft tools, weve been able to create consolidated sales figures very easy and quickly, said Riojas.

Mark Flaherty, Chief Marketing Officer at InetSoft was quick to point out how Style Scopes visual analysis and self-service end-user capabilities are a perfect blend for organizations like Multimedios that seek to improve the speed and ease at which they are able make smart decisions based on the data at hand.

Style Scope was designed under the guiding principal of agile BI. One meaning of agility that our customers value relates to speed of information access. The goal is that users experience no delay in getting the information they need because its right at their fingertips, no matter where the data is stored. When coupled with powerful visual analysis tools, this leads to decision making thats based on the most current data available something every organization strives for, said Flaherty.

InetSofts Style Scope is an easy-to-use interactive dashboard software application that includes real time reporting and data mashup capabilities . The application is 100% Java at the server level, and HTML, JavaScript, and Flash at the client level. That, combined with its SOA architecture and open standards-based technology, makes for an ideal embedding and integration-ready application for dashboards and reporting. End-users get visually compelling, highly interactive access to data, while solution providers get a highly customizable, easy to learn and quick to deploy business intelligence toolset and information delivery platform.
