Belus Technology Releases ScriptQ Version 2.0 - Intelligent Job Queuing For Enterprise Applications

TORONTO (PRWEB) February 28, 2004

Belus Technology released today the latest version of “ScriptQ”. ScriptQ is innovative queuing technology designed to ensure the regular, uninterrupted execution of JavaScript and VBScript jobs. It allows developers and system administrators to input intelligence that defines which jobs are most important and how each job should be executed.

Throughout the enterprise, applications of numerous types are constantly generating scripts or “jobs” that need to be executed quickly and smoothly in order to keep business on track. Jobs such as mass e-mailings, batch processing, report generation, data transfer and backups often number in the thousands at any moment in time. Without an effective way to process such jobs, “bad” jobs get stuck in endless loops and lock valid jobs out of the system. Low priority jobs get processed before high priority ones. A project fails because a job is prematurely abandoned, or an entire system (such as a database) becomes unavailable because a bad job is not abandoned soon enough.

“Triggering jobs without an effective way to manage them is a bit like expecting high-density downtown traffic to flow smoothly without lights to direct it, or tow trucks to pull disabled vehicles out of the way,” said Vlad Alexander, head of development at Belus. “ScriptQ is designed to allow developers and system administrators to steer job execution in a direction that answers to system and business priorities and helps ensure critical applications remain online and available.”

Instead of processing scripts on a first-come-first-served basis, ScriptQ allows business priorities to determine script execution. For example, during a busy part of the day for an online store, it is more important to process credit card information than to send out purchase confirmation emails. Confirmation emails should ideally be executed only when there is CPU time available between credit card transactions. ScriptQ allows developers and system administrators to make such determinations and to apply them simply and quickly through an intuitive user interface.

ScriptQ executes jobs asynchronously, freeing applications to get on with other work immediately jobs are submitted. Developers and system administrators determine how often and for how long ScriptQ attempts to execute a given job. If a job is attempting to access resources that are temporarily unavailable, or if the job itself is poorly constructed and stuck in a loop, ScriptQ sets the job aside and moves on to the next priority.
