VirtualTek announces the immediate availability of its popular Linux-based e-mail and groupware server, Joydesk 2.6. Joydesk 2.6 combines VirtualTek’s line of messaging products with free 30-day trials of the Joy2Go! wireless and sync extensions in one integrated solution for ease of use and quicker installation. With Joydesk 2.6, small- to medium-sized businesses can instantly create a secure Intranet environment or service providers can offer their customers branded messaging applications accessible from the client of their choice.
In addition to fully featured web-based e-mail, file sharing, group calendar, personal address book, employee directories, to-do list and group message board of the Joydesk server, Joydesk 2.6 features 30-day trials of the Joy2Go! suite including Joy2Go! Wireless for mobile phone access, Joy2Go! Sync for contact information synchronization to personal digital assistants and Outlook and Joy2Go! POP for POP3/IMAP4 access. After license purchase, activation only requires a product key.
Joydesk 2.6 also features encrypted SSL security using self-signed digital certificates, sound notification for new mail, the ability to create single or multiple domains as well as the latest version of the most widely used web server on the Internet, Apache v1.3. Together with a high performance open source database, Joydesk 2.6 can be installed and running in less than 30 minutes with no further work required.
Joydesk 2.6 runs on Linux kernel 2.2 or higher, Red Hat Linux 6.0 or higher, and Sun Cobalt Qube3, RaQ3 and RaQ4; 128MB minimum RAM required, with 500MB minimum available hard disk space (2GB recommended). Client requirements include Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000; Internet Explorer 4.x, Netscape Navigator 3.01 or higher, or any browser supporting HTML 3.2 and JavaScript.
