New App Simplifies Google Maps Markers

(PRWEB) May 20, 2009

German software company telepark today unveiled my-own-map.com, a free online app that circumvents the difficult coding previously required to mark locations on a Google map.

“It’s a no-brainer,” said Patrick Thomas, founder of telepark.com, developers of my-own-map.com. “In the ultra-convenient domain of Google Mapping it’s hard to believe that there was no easy way to create maps with markers.”

How does it work? Users enter an address or upload an address database, select a marker color and info, map dimensions, click generate and the map code is instantly produced, ready to be added to any website. No more JavaScript, Google API or coordinate calculations as previously required to simply flag a desired location on a Google Map.

“Google Maps is the industry standard, but it was lacking this key functionality,” said Thomas. “Now anyone can integrate Google’s feature rich maps with their own markers by filling out a simple form.”

“Small and medium businesses like restaurants, medical practices, contractors need to be able to pinpoint locations for customers on Google maps just like their larger competitors, but without having to delve into complex JavaScript code to put a marker on a map, let alone a dozen markers — well now they can,” Thomas adds.

Features include:

Support for street addresses: My-own-map.com for Google accepts standard street addresses (both US and international format).

Works with manual and database-derived entries: Users can enter their marker addresses one at a time or upload a simple text file with any number of markers, also based on addresses.
