The Lilitab Swipe extension to Lilitabs line of secure iPad kiosks brings mobile Point of Sale (POS) solutions to wherever merchants need them to be. The card reader comes integrated into the Lilitab enclosure so it does not appear as an add-on or afterthought to the system. This provides customer assurance that no bolted on device is skimming their personal data. Integration at the enclosure lets customers know their transaction and card data is secure.
The Lilitab Swipe is offered as an unencrypted or encrypted option. Encrypted reader versions encrypt right at the reader head so no sensitive data is ever seen by the device, iOS or application. Device Unique Key Per Transaction (DUKPT) key management assures that no two swipes produce the same encrypted data, even if the same card is swiped twice in a row. Encryption at the head provides a big advantage to POS app developers as well. Sensitive customer data is never in the tablet or app, reducing merchants Payment Card Industry (PCI) liability scope and development time to market.
In addition to bank and credit cards, Lilitab Swipe also supports AAMVA formatted drivers licenses. Hospitals and medical clinics can use this feature for ID verification prior to insurance co-payment.
Lilitab provides a starter app, LilySwipe (available in the Apple App Store), as well as a Software Development Kit (SDK) with sample starter projects. Applications can be either native iOS or web-based, using a native iOS wrapper to move data from the card reader to a web page. Sample web pages for both ISO (bank) and drivers license cards, provide starter JavaScript methods showing web developers how they can handle card swipe data. The LilySwipe app lets merchants test their hardware right out of the box using their own e-commerce or other website.
