Asial Corporation Announces the Release of the PhoneGap-based Monaca Framework to the Open-source Community

Tokyo, Japan (PRWEB) September 06, 2012

Asial Corporation (Head Office: Bunkyo-Ku, Tokyo CEO: Masahiro Tanaka) are pleased to announce the release of the Monaca mobile application development framework to open source on September 7th 2012.

With the wide variety of smart devices being released onto the market there has been an increasing focus on application development techniques using cross-platform mobile tools. In particular PhoneGap, by Adobe Systems, has been attracting a great deal of attention.

However in terms of user interface and operating speed, hybrid* applications developed using PhoneGap tend to be overshadowed by those developed using native applications.

To solve this problem Asial has been providing the Monaca Platform, a cloud-based mobile application development platform. The Monaca Platform is powered by the Monaca Framework bringing high-quality operability and extending the functionality of PhoneGap.

Now, in response to requests from developers wanting to use the Monaca Framework in a local application development environment such as Xcode or Eclipse, Asial has made the Monaca Framework available to the open source community.

The Monaca Framework is released under the Apache License with the source code available through GitHub.

In the future, we want to allow anyone to be able to develop mobile apps easily using Asial’s mobile application development tools.

a hybrid application is an application created using a web technology such as HTML5 or Javascript. Compared with traditional development methods it does not require specialist skills and is also cross-platform, allowing the creation of Android and iPhone apps simultaneously.

About the Monaca Framework

The Monaca Framework is a mobile application development framework for creating high-quality hybrid applications. The Monaca Framework consists of components in a Javascript library that are used to manipulate corresponding native Android and iOS components. By using the Monaca Framework the functionality of hybrid apps in PhoneGap is significantly enhanced.

Native UI components
By using native UI components it becomes possible to place native functionality on a page. This allows developers to build high-speed applications with faster rendering while still maintaining cross-platform compatibility.

-Monaca.js

Monaca.js is a JavaScript library featuring native-equivalent UI components that are used for building screen transitions.

-CPT (Cross-Platform Templater)

CPT is a cross-platform template engine implemented in native code. CPT has powerful native parser functions to structure HTML pages.
