HTML5 Powers Content-rich Website for Antony Gormley

London, England (PRWEB UK) 28 October 2011

As the official online home of Antony Gormley, http://www.antonygormley.com provides unrivalled insight into the Turner Prize winner by showcasing his career and works to date. Extensively catalogued within the site are image galleries featuring over 700 photographs of his installations, drawings and exhibitions, essays and interviews, and a comprehensive press archive.

Created by multimedia art house Materia Prima, the simple, elegant site design deploys some of the latest open-source technologies. Originally built using Adobe Flash, the site has been completely recreated using HTML5 to retain a slick Flash-like feel. Complex jQuery (JavaScript) code has been purposefully written to handle smooth image transitions and dynamic content scaling. As a HTML5 site it is accessible from across a wide range of web platforms and wireless devices.

Bryony McLennan, exhibitions & archives coordinator for Antony Gormley Studio, said:

The website for Antony Gormley has become an invaluable resource for people interested in the artist’s practice. With Materia Prima’s development of an entirely new content management system and selected front-end features we are now able to both offer an enhanced experience for visitors to the site and to maintain the site with far greater efficiency and ease. We are absolutely delighted with the results.

Kenneth Kawamoto, director of Materia Prima, said:

Antony Gormley is one of Britains most well-loved sculptors and we are absolutely thrilled to be working with him. His work is huge in every way and we wanted to provide a suitably technologically advanced platform to showcase it. We deployed some pretty cool open-source solutions and were really happy with the end product.
