MyFlickrSpace (http://www.MyFlickrSpace.com) has invented a bridge between Flickr’s photo gallery service and the popular community web site, myspace.com. A simple, three-step process makes it easy for even the most novice of users to share flickr photos on their myspace page. Once added to your myspace profile, friend comments, blog entries or within the content of a myspace message, photos added to Flickr are dynamically updated when viewed in the future.
As Flickr’s photo gallery continues to grow, with estimated numbers of photos exceeding 20 million, many of the more than 60 million users of myspace are looking to share their flickr photos on their profiles. A simple web site seems to have provided the missing link to the problem.
Many previous attempts have failed and even Flickr’s own “Flickr badge” are problematic due to the security restrictions put in place by myspace.com. Myspace does not allow any potentially unsafe code to be written in the content of much of their site. The Flickr badge is only implemented with JavaScript or Flash with no “pure HTML” version available.
Mark Middleton, creator of MyFlickrSpace, says, “The pure HTML output of MyFlickrSpace uses an ingenious method of bridging the gap between the power of the Flickr gallery and the huge community of myspace visitors. Our system creates code that can be used virtually on any web page, blog or html content in a safe, dynamic and fun way.”
Flickr encourages sharing of photos by publishing RSS feeds of photos within their web site. The MyFlickrSpace engine harnesses this power and displays it in a way that all of MySpace users can see dynamically updated photos throughout their myspace experience.
The system is free of charge and includes a small link back to the MyFlickrSpace system to allow others to create their own MyFlickrSpace bridge.
